Psychotherapy FAQs

  • My approach to therapy is embodied and relational, meaning it is accessible to everyone. Unlike more clinical approaches to therapy, I become personally engaged with and affected by our work, as this is what enables me to support and guide our enquiry. In this sense, our work involves courageously stepping into the unknown together.

Core Process Psychotherapy draws on a Western therapeutic approach alongside a Buddhist understanding of how we might ease suffering. In my own life, this has meant gaining awareness of and loosening my identification with what causes suffering, which in turn allows me to experience the joyful wholeness of being alive. Whilst I have a meditation and movement practice that is informed by tantric Buddhism, my spirituality is grounded in earthly reality. The therapeutic process is secular and inclusive, and you don’t require a spiritual practice to benefit.

  • Please contact me to arrange an initial meeting. During this meeting I will ask you to say a little more about what you are looking for support with, explain how I work and answer any questions you may have. This work is about relationship so finding the right therapist for you is the most important first step. If I don't feel I would be suited to working with you for any reason, I usually offer a referral to an alternative therapist.

  • During our first session we will read through and agree a contract - this sets out important information, such as confidentiality as well as practicalities, so that you can have clear expectations and assurance of my professional standards. The remainder of our first session would involve me inviting you to tell me more about yourself, your history as well as your hopes and intentions of the therapeutic process.

  • I offer an inclusive practice and a supportive space regardless of history or self-identification. The therapy spaces I currently work from are upstairs and so unfortunately would not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties.

  • I offer longer-term depth psychotherapy. For all new clients we initially agree to 6 weekly sessions. On the sixth session we take some time to review our work so far and decide together what would support you further. In our initial meeting, we can discuss the type of support you are looking for and what possible time frames would offer the most support.

  • I am a trainee UKCP Core Process Psychotherapist and I work on a one to one basis. To ensure my work remains of high quality, I have my own weekly psychotherapy, and I have regular psychotherapeutic supervision. I also adhere to the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice which supports me to prioritise safety and integrity.
